Hoe breng je de meerwaarde van een innovatief product over op een traditionele markt? Dat kan door alle voordelen in een toegankelijk, logisch verhaal te presenteren, gestaafd door bewijs. Over het gepatenteerde Innalox-TPS systeem (Tubesheet Protection System) schreef ik samen met Mark Welters, bedenker en eigenaar van de innovatie een inhoudelijk stuk, dat in november 2015 gepubliceerd werd op Sulphur 2015. I wrote an internally coherent article about the patented Innalox-TPS system (Tubesheet Protection System), together with Mark Welters, creator and owner of the innovation. Innalox BV levert hoogwaardig technisch keramiek. Voor het terugwinnen van zwavel uit ruwe olie worden reactoren met boilers ingezet. De temperatuur in de reactor kan oplopen tot 1600 ˚C. De overgang tussen deze hete ruimte en de koelere omgeving van de boiler wordt begrensd door een pijpenplaat (tubesheet). Deze pijpenplaat moet worden beschermd tegen de corrosieve gassen die in het proces zitten. Daarnaast zijn de spanningen op de omliggende materialen door het temperatuurverschil enorm. Innalox bedacht een modulair systeem, bestaande uit 3 materialen, die door hun speciale eigenschappen en vernuftige vorm de kans op schade van de pijpenplaat sterk reduceren en de reparatietijd bij schade aanzienlijk verkorten.

Innalox Bv is a supplier of high-end technical ceramics. To regain sulphur from crude oil, reactors with boilers are used. The temperature in a reactor can ascend to 1600 ˚C. The passage between this hot area and the cooler surroundings is bordered by a tubesheet. This tubesheet needs to be protected against corrosive gasses that occur in the process. Furthermore, the pressure on the surrounding materials is huge, due to the enormous difference in temperature. Innalox has invented a modular system, consisting of 3 types of materials. Due to their special characteristics and inventive shape the chance of damage to the tubesheet is strongly reduced and the downtime when damaged is strongly shortened.

Wat me als eerste opviel was het gemak waarmee Suzanne de technische informatie tot zich nam. Ze heeft een serieuze en zorgvuldige bijdrage geleverd aan de publicatie, zonder haar was het niet zo mooi en netjes binnen de deadline gelukt. Ik ben heel blij met wat ze heeft gedaan, ze heeft mijn complimenten echt verdiend.
The first thing I noticed was how easily Suzanne absorbed the technical information. She has added a serious and careful contribution to the publication. Without her, the result wouldn’t have been so nice and properly within the deadline. I am very pleased with the work she has done, she really deserves my compliments.
